China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) delivered more than 100 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity through its EV charging network in April, marking a new monthly record, according to its subsidiary Kunlun WaneLink Electric Technology.
Kunlun WaneLink, established in December 2023, has rapidly expanded its charging footprint across 60 key cities in China. By adopting a city-specific strategy, the company has exceeded its full-year network development target by 30% as of 2024. Its platform now averages 210,000 new registered users per month, with newly launched stations outperforming the industry average in terms of per-charger utilization.
The platform currently connects over 50,000 charging guns. So far, Kunlun WaneLink has handed over 181 high-quality charging stations—comprising 5,233 charging guns—to CNPC’s regional sales units, advancing the integration of EV charging services with its traditional fuel retail operations.
To support continued growth, the company has reviewed nearly 400 operational demands across its business lines, leading to system upgrades in parking management, billing, smart charging, safety monitoring, and data analytics. Kunlun WaneLink has also built the infrastructure to support a future network of up to 500,000 charging guns.
